For our concert in Boston Proper, we will take our audience on a travel route guided by musical selections of Gustav Holst, Benjamin Britten, Béla Bartók and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Through the musical language of these composers we embark on an East meets West journey that explores the idea of being an outsider in a new land. Despite the geographical and cultural boundaries that these composers experienced they draw pride and inspiration from the differences they experience while also finding common ground. Since many of us in Palaver are transplants from somewhere else we are delighted to collaborate with our friends, Molly Dee and John Branagan, from Boston University's Visual Arts Program to explore the different perspectives of our artistic experience in our beloved city of Boston.
