On a warm summer night in Maine, Palaver shared the experience of lying in a field to watch a meteor shower. As we witnessed what appeared to be random astronomical explosions, we recognized our own story in the bursts of light amid the vastness of the night sky. For a young ensemble forging a new path in the professional world, the way forward is seldom clear. This is a story of stepping out into the unknown, of taking risks and making up the journey as we go along. Lean in, find comfort in your fear, and never be afraid to fall.
The program includes Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst, VAUGHAN WILLIAMS’ Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra, and arrangements of THELONIUS MONK’s Round Midnight, and ESPERANZA SPALDING’s Really Very Small, as well as one of their signature fiddle sets.
** Palaver will be in residence at Bay Chamber Concerts' Screen Door Festival in August - a five-day musical gathering along one of the most scenic coastlines in the world. It features fresh performances by world-renowned musicians, presented in intimate venues, all in a distinctly relaxed summer-in-Maine atmosphere.
