Open Rehearsal at the Boston Center for the Arts

  • Mills Gallery 539 Tremont Street Boston, MA, 02116 United States (map)

How do 14 musicians play together without a conductor? Come to our open rehearsal and find out!

An open rehearsal invites you to experience music in the making,  you’ll get an intimate look at Palaver Strings’ lively, democratic, and collaborative approach to playing classical music. Listen in as a phrase from Vaughan Williams’ "Concerto Grosso for String Orchestras" refined and perfected through repetition. Gain insight into what the musicians hear and they are trying to tease out of each movement. Experience the impact of slight change in tempo or mood.

Drop in for a few minutes or for the full two hours and walk away with new insights about classical music in our contemporary era.  We will be rehearsing excerpts from Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in G minor Op. 6 No.8, Vaughan Williams’ Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra, and Ian Gottlieb’s Even.
